An Eight-Week Zen Practice Intensive 🪷
March 17 – May 12
Disrupt your socially-constructed understanding of time and plunge into the essence of Zen with our upcoming eight-week intensive. The intensive is designed to deepen your practice and cultivate connection in community. We will offer a variety of ways to stretch your practice and engage with community. The Sunday Sangha Teas are for registered Practice Intensive participants only. All other events are open to everyone.
The intensive is a precious chance to extend your practice. Whether you are looking to deepen your meditation practice, understand Zen teachings more thoroughly, or simply find a community of inquiry-minded individuals, this intensive is for you.

Practice Intensive Offerings
🍵 Sangha Teas: Share in the warmth of community during our Sangha teas on Sunday mornings. Mark your calendars for 3/31, 4/21, and 5/12 following regular service. These gatherings promise a blend of serene companionship and sharing. To formally be part of Practice Intensive, we ask that at a minimum you commit to attending two of the three teas.
🧘♀️ Weekday Morning Zazen: Start your day with clarity and peace by joining us for zazen at 6 am. This daily practice is the heart of Zen, offering a space to cultivate mindfulness and presence.
⏰ Tuesday Night Class on Dogen’s “Time Being”: Over the course of six Tuesday evenings, we will explore the profound teachings of Dogen’s concept of “Time Being,” and its implications on existence and practice. On Tuesday, April 23, special guess Dr. Sarah Horton will give a lecture on the challenges of translating Dogen’s Uji, “Time Being” into English. See our “Time Being” resource page.
🌕 Moonrise Viewing Party: Experience Deep Time via the magic of a full moon rising as the (near) Equinox sun sets on 3/23. This special event is a celebration of the natural world and our place within it.
🌳 Field Trip to an Old/Mature Forest: Connect with the ancient wisdom of nature through a field trip to an old-growth or mature forest. This outing will provide a unique opportunity to contemplate the vastness of time in the embrace of timeless natural beauty. Date TBD–probably a Saturday in April or May. Weather is a factor.
🌸 Field trip to a very special private Japanese garden at cherry blossom time 🤞🏻. Japanese garden design evokes both ephemerality and antiquity for an illuminating frisson. Saturday, April 13. [This date has been corrected.]
☸️ Dharma Talks and More: Engage with the teachings and insights of Dharma through talks that encourage understanding and practice. Josho and Eden will give Dharma talks. Dates TBA.
This intensive is a precious chance to extend your practice within a supportive and vibrant community. Whether you are looking to deepen your meditation practice, understand Zen teachings more thoroughly, or simply find a community of inquiry-minded individuals, this intensive is for you.
